There is an abundance of wonderful and freshly roasted coffee to be explored across Surrey. Dozens of coffee roasters are using their craft to serve Surrey with some of the best coffee in the world.

Here are the five best coffee roasters in Surrey that every coffee enthusiast must try.

1. Finest Cup

Finest Cup is an incredibly unique and exciting coffee roaster that focuses exclusively on specialty coffee from Ethiopia. Unlike most roasters, who offer 1-3 Ethiopian varieties in their catalogue, Finest Cup offers a couple dozen options.

This gives coffee enthusiasts an interesting opportunity to explore coffees from across the world’s premiere coffee-growing country. This is especially good news for coffee drinkers who enjoy fruity and floral coffee, as high-elevation natural Ethiopian coffees produce these types of flavour profiles.

Despite only choosing to roast just one country of origin, Finest Cup still offers the largest number of coffee varieties in Surrey, possibly in all of Canada.

Their customers agree that Finest Cup is a coffee experience any serious coffee enthusiast has to try. As of writing, their business has 141 Google reviews. Only 3 of them are not 5 stars.

Best of all, they have great prices and even sell unroasted green beans for home roasters.

Their subscription can be customized based on natural or washed coffee, which is something we appreciate and that few, if any, other roasters offer.

Possibly my favourite coffee shop in the Lower Mainland. Love the low key feel, the friendly customers, and of course the barista. Or should I call him coffee artist? Be it the roasting or the actual crafting of his pour overs, everything is done with immaculate attention to detail. The beans are full of fun and flavour. And my wife said it was the best cappuccino she’s ever had, even though it was decaf.

Hands down the best coffee roaster I have come across. I have ordered beans from other provinces and tried locally but nothing comes close to Finest Cup. I must admit, I do drink more coffee now because the coffee is so good. I would highly recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and a bag when you’re there!

Amateur coffee roaster here and I love the raw beans Republica Coffee Roasters sells. Great quality, and free shipping that has often arrived the same day I place the order online. Best customer service I have ever experienced, ever, from anywhere, ever. Going above and beyond to answer questions, and to get me specific blends of beans I request that may not be available on the website to order, 11/10 service.

This is my current go-to for locally roasted beans. I’m newer to pulling my own shots of espresso, and am currently exploring a variety of beans from different brands, regions, vendors and roast levels. Republica however continues to be my mainstay; great selection of beans, seasonal and single origin options rotating and knowledgeable staff. I switch up my bags, but Diabolique is my favourite (its what they use for espresso in store) and I always enjoy returning back to it.

Quite possibly the best small batch roaster in British Columbia. Grade A beans sourced ethically and roasted in a commercial Air Roaster machine delivering even roasts with good acidity. Put in your custom order now! I just had a medium Papua New Guinea which was so milk chocolatey as an espresso I was blown away.

Very nice Cafe where the love of their product is obvious. As the beans are basically roasted to order it’s a great place to continually try new and exciting things. I highly recommend!

The beans here are amazing. I used to drink Tim Hortons coffee then I switched to Starbucks because I thought the coffee was better. After trying this place I can’t ever go back. The light roasts are done to the point where the notes in the beans are noticeable for even an amateur brewer.

Not your typical cafe. It’s also a place with muliple rooms with multiple purposes: tasting room, retail space to buy green beans or coffee roasting/brewing equipment, classes (coming up). Lovely ambience, owner is friendly and helpful. You can try out their different coffees which are priced well.
